Since I began welding in 2004, I have made approximately 1,000 crosses.

Crosses.

You can’t get away from crosses. They are everywhere.

As the crux of the Christian story, the cross is an object of faith because it stands as the climactic act of the person in whom Christians have faith. A cross thus symbolizes faith. For many, it marks the death from which death was defeated. As markers of graves, crosses serve as memorials as well as symbols of hope.

Growing up in a Christian household and attending Christian schools, the cross was everywhere. In my work, too, I haven’t been able to get away from crosses. Having made this symbol over and over, my cross sculptures stand in homes and yards as precious reminders of faith, hope, and love.
